 "There she is, Toothless!" I exclaimed, pointing down towards the giant black lake that surrounded the castle. After speaking with Professor Dumbledore, we were giving finding the second Red Death another shot, and having more luck this time! There she sat, drinking out of the lake, unmistakable . I felt a little uncertain, but if, according to Dumbledore's theory, the second Red Death's loyalties had changed...  This might work out. If it didn't... I won't go there. We flew to the side of its head, trying to get one of its eyes to notice us (I almost hoped one wouldn't). One did. It let out a soft, hissing noise. "Oh, man..." I groaned.

 I was warming up my mind to form a plan, but before I could even process one little strategy, something startling happened: the second Red Death's head burst around the corner, roaring its anger at being disturbed. It was terrifying how gigantic it's head alone was. Toothless had his wits back before I did, and bolted upwards, just missing a jet of fire from the angry monster. The cave was a lot taller than I'd originally thought, and Toothless was doing what Night Furies did best: he was disapearing in the stlactites.  I stood frozen, stunned, as Nelson approached the head of the sleeping dragon, grabbed a rock off the cave floor and hurled it right at it. "You know, that's really not a good plan to get on his good side," I commented. Wait, why was I giving him advice? "Shut up! Like you have any better ideas!" he said nastily, continuing to throw rocks at it. They had no effect, to my relief, and just bounced off the tough scales. If they had he'd probably have been fried. Maybe if he continued to act so annoying I could still win the second Red Death over myself. But how were either of us going to get it to wake without angering it? I have no idea wh

 After many twists and turns at odd places, and heading in directions I thought we'd already come from for some time, I was finally getting frustrated with Mahina. "How much farther is it?" I asked, fighting to keep my voice more or less polite. "Oh, it will take aaages," moaned Mahina, then stopped abruptly. "We're here."   After telling the others everything was fine and that the dragon had flown off the grounds somewhere North, likely never to be seen again, I made my way up to Gryffondor Tower to pass the time until tonight. Even if Toothless wouldn't help me, he'd still be there to keep me company, and the forest would seem a lot less lonely. After last night, just seeing the size of that forest dampened my spirits. What if I couldn't find the second Red Death after all? What if I failed? And why was Toothless acting like this?  Professor Dumbledore hadn't been very specific about what exactly I was supposed to do once in the forest; he seemed to leave it up to me to figure out where to start.
